Interactive Development

I’ve been building websites since 1995 (HTML/Perl) and specifically with PHP since 1999. This work has included the development of my own content management system, issue tracking system and numerous other web-based tools designed to make my own, as well as others’ lives easier. In the past few years I’ve focused on JQuery and WordPress development, building themes to client-specified designs as well as custom plugins for both WordPress and WordPress MU. I have also assumed the role of system administrator, running IIS/SQL Server installations and Linux/Apache/MySQL installations. Of these environments, Linux/Unix is certainly my strongest area. I am equally (if not more) comfortable working on the Linux command line as using GUI tools. I also run a small (hobby) web hosting company for which I run a Linux server, providing hosting, customer support and minimal development for a variety of websites from all over the world. In the past year I have expanded my skills into Flash/Actionscript development, mainly for kiosk/installation type environments and screen savers. I have also just begun studying Objective-C in preparation for development of iPhone/iPad applications.

How can I help you?

Languages/Technologies

  1. Hi Warren,

I’m writing to congratulate you on your awesome multi-post plugin I am tinkering with at the moment.

I may use it on a website I’m creating and if I do, I”ll be pleased to send a donation your way to support your efforts.

Can you give me an idea how many other blogs your plugin can update? I’d tried it across 3?

What are the limits do you think? Server memory, browser time outs, anything like that?

    All the best,

    Ralf

  2. Glad the plugin is useful for you. I have only tested it up to 12 blogs where we were using it as a research tool. We used the plugin to push “assignments” out to blog owners and they would respond on their individual blogs. At that time I thought the plugin might be useful for others. Since then people have taken it way beyond it’s original intent.

So, I cannot provide you with maximum limits because I’ve never had a need to do so. You might try posting your question in the WordPress forums and tagging it with multipost-mu to see if those with more experience with the plugin’s limits might have an opinion.

  3. Hi Warren, thanks for the tip. Still testing your plugin, looks promising.

I am not associated with the website below so I am making this recommendation with no personal attachment.

Have a look at the link below. Perhaps you may want to list your plugin on this website:

    kind regards,

Hey Warren, thank you very much for the effort you put on Multipost MU plugin!

We have used the plugin for a long time to serve a mobile version of one of our sites. However, we noticed the scheduled entries on the main blog are not really scheduled on the children blogs. They don’t show, unless I go directly to the children (mobile blog) and hit update.

Do you have a clue of what we could do here?

    Thanks!
    Camilo

  5. Hi Camilo. The plugin has not been actively maintained, I’m afraid, due to lack of time. It was clearly never tested with scheduled posts.

I’ll add this to my list. I’d love to tell you it’ll be fixed next week. Realistically, though, I’m not sure when I’ll have a chance to look into the issue. You might try posting your question in the WordPress forums (http://wordpress.org/support/forum/plugins-and-hacks) and tagging it with multipost-mu to see if other maintainers have a quick fix for your issue.
